Before you have your trees removed, or worse “topped”, call the knowledgeable staff at Bellinger’s Tree Care to see what can be done to save and enhance your trees. There are problems affecting trees that only a trained expert will recognize and be able to treat correctly.

Bellinger’s will implement modern tree care practices that can extend the useful life of your trees.

Trees are low maintenance, but they are not no-maintenance. A consultation on tree health may need to be the first step concerning the well being of your trees. Preparing a schedule of preventative or routine maintenance practices can follow this consultation. The health and appearance of that grand old tree on your property is important to your way of life and also your peace of mind. Healthy trees are also important to the value of your property.

Bellinger’s arborists employ various methods and techniques to prune mature trees. Pruning cuts must be made with an understanding of how the tree will respond to the cut. Improper pruning can cause damage that will continue throughout the life of the tree. The company has a bucket truck aerial lift that can extend 55’ into the tree, or the arborists can rope and climb large trees without the use of damaging climbing spurs.

Pruning is the most common tree maintenance procedure. Tree pruning is often desirable or necessary to remove dead branches, improve tree structure, enhance vigor, and maintain safety.

Bellinger’s Tree Care also offers other specialty services such as: cabling, bracing, and lightning protection by installing protective hardware in the tree. Cables and braces are used to lessen or prevent storm damage by decreasing the lateral movement of branches and increasing the amount of weight that limbs can hold. Cables are installed in trees to provide support to weak limbs by connecting two or more limbs together.

Lightning protection is intended to carry the electrical charge of a lightning strike away from the tree. Trees that stand alone in open landscapes, the tallest trees in an area, or trees standing on a hill are all candidates for lightning strikes, thus needing the protection. A specific circumstance that warrants protecting a tree from lightning would be to protect historic trees and trees of great economic importance.

Trees require certain essential elements to function and grow. Landscape or urban trees may be growing in soils that do not contain sufficient available nutrients for satisfactory growth and development. It may be necessary to fertilize or adjust the soil pH to increase available nutrients. Bellinger’s Tree Care primarily uses the root zone injection method. Fertilizer, macronutrients, and micronutrients are dissolved in water and injected into the soil in the tree’s root zone. This provides a good distribution of fertilizer and water in the soil where the roots are growing.

Diagnosing plant problems requires a combination of knowledge, experience, and observation. Bellinger’s personnel can identify insect or fungal problems and the appropriate recommendations can be made. For more intense problems, a history of the tree will be needed before any recommendations can be made.

Many trees are destroyed during building construction. Protecting trees prior to any construction is of the utmost importance and fairly easy to do. Unfortunately this is not usually done. Most people are unaware of the devastating damage construction does to trees, so consult with a Certified Arborist from Bellinger’s prior to any type of construction near your trees.

Bellinger’s Tree Care personnel realize that working in and around trees can be a hazardous profession and that safety is the primary concern.
  • Safety requires special equipment, proper clothing, and the appropriate gear.
  • Safety is a mental attitude and an ongoing commitment at every level.
  • Safety is also training, schooling, and educational seminars.
