What a Landscape Plan is:
A Landscape Plan deals with the horizontal aspects of a “to scale” drawing. It identifies where the home or office is located, where the property lines are, and where other permanent items are (existing trees, other buildings, patios, gazebos etc.) The plan has each new plant drawn in to scale and correctly spaced in relation to other new plants and also with the existing plants and structures. Call-out letters are used with a key to identify plant names, water features and hardscaping. Color rendering is used to give you an idea of what you can expect from your plants.
Why a plan is needed:
- A landscape plan is needed to combine your wishes with Bellinger’s expertise to create a pleasing and easy to care for landscape that compliments your home or office.
- Your plan will show the horizontal distance between plants and structures, and will identify each one.
- Our crew will take your plan at installation.
- Your plan can be divided out into sections so that a portion of the plan can be completed at this time, and another portion in the future.
- The use of a well designed landscape plan drawn by your Bellinger’s professional will allow for the proper number of plants. (No over planting and crowding and no under planting.)
- Your plan will identify plants for your specific situation and location. (The hardiness zone, plant needs, e.g. shade, sun, wet soil, dry soil, etc.)
The Design Process:
- Before a landscape design can be started, a site visit of your property is needed. This conceptual phase involves a meeting with you to discuss your wishes and a walk around the site to take notes and measurements.
- This conceptual phase is extremely important as you and our designer can communicate and discuss your likes and dislikes. This gives us your immediate input to create a foundation on which to build the plan.
- Our designer measures everything on site and makes rough sketches, then returns to our office to draw out a preliminary (or rough) plan. You may chose to meet with our designer again at this point and review the plan.
- After the rough plan has been reviewed with you, the final plan is drawn. This plan is to scale, labeled and rendered. It is also accompanied by a plant list, with sizes and costs.
- All of this is needed before the landscape can be installed properly to make sure it is to your exact specifications.
